Test 1 — Speaking
In front of two examiners, in two parts: an interview on a topic you choose from two options, then the description of a picture you choose from three. Speaking is marked against eight criteria.
Sproochentest preparation
Mock exams built to the exact format of the test, and detailed feedback on your speaking, criterion by criterion. You know precisely where you stand and what is still costing you points.
Built for candidates who already have some Luxembourgish (A1–A2) and an exam to prepare for. Practice material is in Luxembourgish; instructions and feedback are in French or English.
Private preparation platform. LetzTest is a private preparation platform. It is independent of the INL (Institut national des langues Luxembourg) and of the Ministère de la Justice, and it neither runs nor awards the exam.
The exam in 30 seconds
The Sproochentest is the Luxembourgish language exam required in the naturalisation procedure (amended law of 8 March 2017 on Luxembourg nationality). It is run by the INL.
In front of two examiners, in two parts: an interview on a topic you choose from two options, then the description of a picture you choose from three. Speaking is marked against eight criteria.
Three audio documents: a radio news item, a conversation between two people, then an exchange or a talk on a defined topic. Each recording is followed by a multiple-choice questionnaire.
You need at least half the points in the speaking test. Below that, listening can compensate: the exam is passed if the average of the two tests reaches 50%.
How it works
About 15 minutes: one recording of each type, one picture description and a short interview. You get an estimate for each test and a clear starting point.
A calendar of 20–30 minute sessions running to your exam date, weighted towards your weak points. Skip or reorder a session and the plan recalculates.
The whole exam, in the real order and the real timings. At the end: an estimate per test, criterion-by-criterion feedback, your corrected transcript and three concrete actions.
Speaking feedback
This is the difference between "I think I manage" and "I know exactly what costs me points". Every recording is marked against the eight criteria used in the speaking test, with a transcript of what you actually said, the corrected version, and the three things to do next.
Full mock exam · Topic: work and profession · 9 min 40
Above the estimated threshold LetzTest estimate
Enough vocabulary for the work topic; little variation beyond the most common words.
The dative after prepositions of place is not yet stable (an, bei, mat, op).
Steady delivery, with two long pauses while searching for a word.
Clear pronunciation; long vowels are held properly.
Every question was answered, but two answers were too short for the task set.
Ideas follow on from each other; connectors are limited to "an" and "awer".
The examiner never had to ask you to repeat.
You answer, then wait for the next question. Interaction is marked: react, follow up, ask a question back.
Examiner: Wat maacht Dir bäi der Aarbecht?
What you said
Ech schaffen an eng Bäckerei zu Esch. Ech maachen d’Brout all Moie an ech verkafen och d’Kuch. Ech hunn dës Aarbecht viru dräi Joer ugefaangen.
Corrected version
Ech schaffen an enger Bäckerei zu Esch. Ech maache d’Brout all Moie an ech verkafen och Kuch. Ech hunn dës Aarbecht virun dräi Joer ugefaangen.

No. LetzTest is a private preparation platform, independent of the INL and of the Ministère de la Justice. Registration, the exam itself and the certificate are handled by the INL alone. Our scores are practice estimates.
An A1–A2 base in Luxembourgish is recommended: LetzTest does not start from zero and is not a substitute for a language course. The placement test tells you where you stand in the first session and the plan adapts to what you can already do.
