The Sproochentest is the Luxembourgish language exam required in the naturalisation procedure (amended law of 8 March 2017 on Luxembourg nationality). It is run by the INL.
Test 2 — Listening comprehension
Three audio documents: a radio news item, a conversation between two people, then an exchange or a talk on a defined topic. Each recording is followed by a multiple-choice questionnaire.
The pass rule
You need at least half the points in the speaking test. Below that, listening can compensate: the exam is passed if the average of the two tests reaches 50%.

The eight criteria
- Repertoire
Enough vocabulary for the work topic; little variation beyond the most common words.
- Use of basic grammatical structures
The dative after prepositions of place is not yet stable (an, bei, mat, op).
- Fluency
Steady delivery, with two long pauses while searching for a word.
- Clarity
Clear pronunciation; long vowels are held properly.
- Completion of the tasks
Every question was answered, but two answers were too short for the task set.
- Coherence
Ideas follow on from each other; connectors are limited to "an" and "awer".
- Ability to make yourself understood
The examiner never had to ask you to repeat.
- Interaction
You answer, then wait for the next question. Interaction is marked: react, follow up, ask a question back.

- an eng Bäckerei → an enger Bäckerei. After "an" with a location meaning, Luxembourgish takes the dative: enger Bäckerei.
- d’Kuch → Kuch. "Kuch" is masculine (de Kuch); with no determiner here, simply say "ech verkafen och Kuch".
- viru dräi Joer → virun dräi Joer. The Eifel rule: the final "n" is kept before d, t, n, z, h and before a vowel.
Three actions for your next session
- Ten minutes a day for a week on the dative after an, op, bei, mat — using sentences from the "work" topic.
- Aim for three sentences per answer: the fact, a reason, an example. Two of your answers were a single sentence.
- Redo two interviews on "work and profession" and compare the two recordings a week apart.

What candidates ask us.
Is LetzTest the INL platform?
No. LetzTest is a private preparation platform, independent of the INL and of the Ministère de la Justice. Registration, the exam itself and the certificate are handled by the INL alone. Our scores are practice estimates.
What level do I need to start?
An A1–A2 base in Luxembourgish is recommended: LetzTest does not start from zero and is not a substitute for a language course. The placement test tells you where you stand in the first session and the plan adapts to what you can already do.
Does it work on mobile?
Yes. The platform is built mobile-first, including microphone recording in the browser (Safari on iOS, Chrome on Android). A headset with a microphone noticeably improves the quality of the feedback.
What happens after six months?
Access ends on the date shown in your account. There is no automatic renewal and no later charge. Your results and history are kept: if you buy access again later, you pick up where you left off.
Can I get an invoice?
Yes. An invoice with Luxembourg VAT is issued for every purchase and stays downloadable from your account. For a company purchase, enter the company name and VAT number at checkout.
Which languages is the interface in?
French and English at launch; Portuguese and German are planned. Practice material — audio, interviews, pictures to describe — is always in Luxembourgish: only the interface, instructions and feedback are translated.
